What is Fleet Management?
Fleet management is one of our UK bulk road tanker services. It encompasses everything that goes into making sure our fleet can run safely, cost-effectively, and on time.
For Suttons, fleet management is a vital component of our day-to-day operations. After all, a lot of care and attention is needed to ensure that the global movement of over 14,000 tank containers and over 850 road tankers goes smoothly.
For our customers, efficient fleet management enables us to pass savings onto them and help keep their costs as low as possible. When factoring in rising fuel prices, operational costs, and regular maintenance, costs can quickly begin to escalate. Cost-efficient fleet management solutions allow our customers to enjoy peak profitability without sacrificing productivity.
Our Fleet Management Investment Principles
We operate our fleet with a focus on strategic investment, servicing, and modifying. By applying these principles through all aspects of our fleet management, we have ensured that our fleet is consistently capable of taking on work from clients of all sizes – including one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of gas.
Crucially, our services take place every time a tank is discharged. This includes a deep clean, an inspection, and then the carrying out of any necessary repairs if needed. We are able to do this due to the tactical placement of our workshops, allowing us to keep our fleet on the road and working for our customers as much as possible.
Fleet Management Systems
We use a number of fleet management systems to guarantee the vigilant running of our fleet, this includes telematics systems, maintenance logs, and EDI (electronic data interchange) systems.
We use Microlise Fleet Performance systems to monitor the precise locations of our fleet and record important information for our customers such as arrival/departure times, ETA boards, and even data on fill and temperature levels for compliance monitoring.
Every time an element of our fleet has maintenance, it is logged within our fleet management system, Freeway. Here we can keep track of garage hours and a parts list so we know exactly when each of our tankers are due another refurbishment, ensuring that we have no tankers on the road in sub-par conditions.
Finally, we have Manpack which acts as our job portal, replacing paper-based systems for peak efficiency. Manpack automatically works with our customer’s systems and creates jobs, invoices, and confirmations with little to no human input.
