WIDNES WORKSHOP EXCEL DURING AZELIS IMPLEMENTATION

The Widnes Workshop recently received praise from Chrisi Lloyd Roberts, Business Improvement Director – Suttons Tankers, after the team completed crucial repairs and maintenance to a large number of vehicles in a very short timeframe, prior to a new contract going live.

The Widnes Workshop offers high quality maintenance for our fleet, including inspections and servicing of assets, as well as MOT and ADR preparations, ensuring confidence in a first-time pass rate. Intermediate and periodic vessel testing is also carried out in our workshop by our experienced team of technicians.

On Monday 16th November 2020 the Tankers division were due to implement a new three-year contract with our customer Azelis for the transportation of bulk nitrogen chemical liquids and gases. As this contract involves large deliveries across the country, a fleet of 10 tanks were dedicated to moving Azelis’s product.

Before a new contract is implemented, all tanks undergo a rigorous inspection to ensure they are clean, in top condition, and safe on the roads. This is our commitment to upholding our earned recognition status from the DVSA, which was awarded for our continuous approach to high standards of compliance, safety and excellence across our UK depot workshop network.

Our Widnes workshop received the tanks on the Wednesday before the contract go-live date, and so only had 5 days to complete the inspections, maintenance, and repairs necessary to the 10 tanks.

The workshop team worked closely with the operations department to plan in advance a schedule that would give them enough time to complete the tank maintenance inspection while continuing with their regular workload.

The team worked around the clock and into the weekend to ensure that all 10 of the tanks were inspected and received maintenance in such a short time frame ready for the Monday morning.

This is a great achievement and displays the skill and expertise of the workshop team, who did this while conducting their usual workload of vessel testing and general vehicle and tank maintenance at an already busy time of year.

Chrisi Lloyd Roberts, Business Improvement Director – Suttons Tankers said:

“Our engineering and workshop staff are highly skilled and a valued asset to our organisation.

The Azelis tanks were required on a very tight timescales so the guys had the turn them around quickly, whilst making sure they met our high standards for road safety. They did a tremendous in a pressured environment”
