SUTTONS TANKERS WINS NEW BUSINESS CONTRACT WITH BOC FOR GAS CYLINDER TRUNKING
Suttons Tankers has won a significant five year contract with BOC, providing inter-branch trunking services for the movements of full and empty gas cylinders across the UK. Suttons are investing in the procurement of 30 new trucks as part of their commitment to provide BOC with the best possible equipment for the contract.
The contract is due to go live in April 2021 where Suttons will operate on an 80% dedicated fleet model with 20% flex support provided by Suttons’ wider network, which allows BOC to utilise additional trained drivers without over committing on core fleet. This gives BOC greater flexibility and provides them with class leading cost to serve metrics.
Suttons’ considerable operational scale and nationwide geographical presence has allowed them to support BOC at a local level by having each BOC site assigned to a Suttons parent site.
Suttons have been working with BOC for over 10 years on the propellant gas and pentanes contracts, building up excellent customer relations and demonstrating consistent high levels of service.
During the tender process, Suttons proved to be a reliable and trustworthy partner who could offer a competitive advantage and add value to BOC’s business. The bespoke modelling exercise completed by Suttons allowed the logistics provider to put forward a solution that drives efficiencies for BOC including maximising core fleet while still providing the capability to flex in line with demand.
The safe and precise delivery of the gas cylinders is of utmost importance and Suttons have been able to demonstrate their excellence in safety which has been consistent in the service they have provided to BOC over the past decade. This was a significant factor in the tender process and Suttons were able to demonstrate proven quality in this area.
Michael Cundy, Managing Director of Suttons Tankers, said:
“We are delighted to announce this major contract win with BOC which is directly aligned to our growth strategy in the gas sector.
“We were able to be commercially competitive, while providing BOC with a compelling solution that met their requirements and was completely bespoke to their operation.
“This new business win also secures an extension on our other contracts with BOC, which is a credit to the Suttons employees who have been working on the propellant gas and pentanes contracts.”
