Suttons International China Control Tower

In the last quarter of 2020, Suttons International implemented a new and exciting initiative to ensure we deliver consistent and quality service to our domestic customers in China.

The Suttons Control Tower is a dedicated Suttons team based at the Jiaxing depot that monitors all domestic orders. This team acts as a bridge between the customer service operators, the transportation supervisors at the depot who book and plan tank movements, the third-party trucking companies and our in-house drivers who load and deliver the tanks.

After operators and the transportation supervisor complete the order allocation for the day, the Control Tower team confirms with each trucking company whether all orders have been received and note the booked loading time, vehicle, and driver information.

The Control Tower will then ensure that a number of checks are completed when the driver arrives at the depot to pick up the tank, including physical checks to the condition of tank and e-heating system. Additionally, the Control Tower ensures the condition of the vehicle is up to Suttons standards and checks the driver’s licence and documentation. This process safeguards the tank and on its journey.

Once the driver and vehicle has been approved, the Control Tower will closely track the tank. From the moment it leaves the depot to when it returns to the depot the team will have hourly updates of the location and condition of the tank (half-hourly updates for important orders). For temperature sensitive products we are also able to monitor the temperature throughout the whole journey, and if necessary, we can adjust the temperature remotely.

The Control Tower team can use tracking data to inform operators if any orders are likely to be late loading or unloading due to abnormal conditions, who will then promptly inform their customers.

The Control Tower ensures that our customers in China always receive the best service possible, with a focus on the safe transit and delivery of their product with maximum visibility along its journey. The next step will be to track temperature sensitive products traversing the globe bound for the automotive industry in Europe.
