Suttons’ Commitment to Safety Recognised   Sep 9, 2009

Suttons Transport Group’s major Widnes operation has been awarded the prestigious Freight Transport Association’s Roadworthiness Award for the second consecutive year

The Roadworthiness Award, based on random Freight Transport Association (FTA) safety inspections, recognises the excellent standard of vehicle maintenance achieved for the Widnes fleet.

Receiving the Roadworthiness Award 2009 from FTA Chief Executive Theo de Pencier, Suttons Tanker Division Managing Director, Mark Haslam said, “Safety and compliance are at the core of Suttons culture and operations. We never compromise on safety and the FTA is an invaluable partner providing an independent assessment of our compliance standards.”

In a further development, Suttons Group has successfully achieved certification for compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001:2007.

This accreditation recognises that Suttons safety management systems comply with best practice standards, based on a continual improvement process as well as regulatory compliance.
Suttons has 80 years global experience in transport, storage and bulk logistics and is one of the UK’s largest privately owned specialist logistics companies with its group HQ in Widnes, Cheshire and key business centres across the world. Suttons has 3 divisions: Suttons UK Road Tanker Division which operates in four key sectors - chemicals, gases, foodstuffs and mineral oils; Suttons Distribution which offers a flexible warehousing service and Suttons International which provides specialist bulk liquid and gas logistics on a global scale, with a fleet of modern tank containers.
