The Role
A key Group appointment this role is responsible for liaising directly with our customers, providing them with a first class end to end global logistics solution for the transportation of hazardous and non hazardous chemicals, from supplier to receiver.
Working closely with the International Supervisors and Operations Manager this is a challenging role which will ensure that varying activities of international traffic (truck, rail, ship, and barge) flows in consultation with overseas offices and third party suppliers.
Key Accountabilities
• Reads Customer orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed
• Matches customer orders and requirements to available suitable resources.
• Communicates / Interacts on a regular basis with drivers, contract managers, other internal departments and Sub Contractors.
• Negotiates with domestic customers, as intermediary for foreign customers, to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreements.
• Performs other clerical tasks such as, preparing correspondence, database entries and keeping files.
• Regularly update in-house computer systems
Skills & Expreience
The candidate will be of a high standard of education, with a good level of intellect and a minimum of 6 GCSE or equivalent Exceptional. This would include English and Maths.
They will have industry qualifications in either freight forwarding, shipping, transport, customs procedures or carriage of dangerous goods.
The successful candidate will have at least 2 years experience of working in a busy office environment, preferably gained within the Transport / Shipping sector.
Emphasis is on being able to demonstrate good mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills. The right candidate will also have experience of managing a team; they will be a self starter and self-sufficient.
Candidates will have a broad range of skills and attributes, including:

• A team player.
• Numerate and IT literate in MS Windows and MS Office Suite.
